case study
A manufacturer of hydrogen fueling stations needed to identify and ensure the traceability of piping used in its H₂ infrastructure.
These pipes, made of stainless steel SUS304, are produced in 16 different diameters, requiring a marking solution capable of adapting to this range of part dimensions while ensuring reliable identification.
The marking must be applied on the outer surface of the tube, along the longitudinal axis.
The manufacturer’s requirements were:
Each part carries an 11 × 11 mm QR code, alphanumeric text, and a separator line. The combination delivers clear identification and reliable traceability of each component.
The L-MOOV portable laser marking machine was selected for its ability to cover the full range of diameters.
It is configured with a 60 × 25 mm nose piece, compatible with the tube geometry.
This setup minimizes adjustments between production runs while maintaining consistent marking quality across all diameters.

The data management workflow was designed to eliminate errors associated with manual entry.
Before each cycle, the operator scans a barcode. The data is directly integrated into the marking program. The SFA software is used exclusively for the incrementation function.
This workflow reduces the risk of input errors and streamlines operations on the production floor.

The marking output remains consistent regardless of tube diameter. The process is fully repeatable and integrates into the existing workflow without added complexity.
The solution meets the traceability requirements of this type of infrastructure while remaining straightforward to operate on a daily basis.
